Born to teach

I love to teach! And I’m good at it! (boy tooting my own horn is hard! Save that for another post haha)

Makeup Artist applying and teaching makeup for all ages and identities

I believe it’s important to ensure my clients feel safe, heard and understood, no matter their identity.

Aside from having decades of experience, I am patient, calming and kind.

I like to go over things throughout the lesson to make sure the technique, process or product is understood. Why that technique? Why that product/tool? What will it do, or not do, for them individually.

When people understand the why, they retain the information better, and the process isn’t as intimidating.

Learning from a Pro!

There are many artists who are well versed on applying or teaching makeup on their own self. This doesn’t mean they have knowledge or experience applying or teaching on different faces.

When booking a makeup lesson, here are important aspects to keep in mind:

1. Qualifications

Find a makeup artist with the right training and experience. Review their credentials, certifications, and portfolio. A good instructor should have solid skills in makeup techniques and styles.

Makeup applications and lessons for diverse clients

2. Specialization

Whether you want to perfect a natural look or learn advanced methods, choose someone who specializes in that area. Since everyone is different, lessons should be personalized to you.

3. Products and Recommendations

Whether you’re learning how to use your own products/tools, or trying something new, ask if the instructor will provide makeup products and tools for the lesson. Some instructors might recommend products to buy later.

4. Reviews and Testimonials

Before booking, take the time to read reviews or testimonials from previous students. Google is great for reviews as you’ll have more authentic reviews.

5. Pricing

Makeup lessons can vary significantly in cost, so it's important to find a balance between quality and your budget. Remember, investing in a quality lesson provides benefits for years to come.

A good rule is…When in doubt ask!

Happy learning!

It’s been over a year!?

How is this possible? I don’t know where the time goes!

Hands on teaching.

I’ve been a busy little bee. Not only do I work with Photographers for their client shoots, and work with a lot of Brides, I do lessons too!

Some makeup artists have a niche(s) they like to work in. For me, I love to teach!

I like to help people of all ages, who are just starting out, or need a refresher on their routine! Helping people realize what makeup can do for them, without the pressure of sales, marketing and the social media!

Just because it’s available, doesn’t mean you need it, or that it’s right for you!
